Spectre X360
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have a Spectre X360. I want to disable the USB charging at sleep mode because I do not want my external USB device draining the battery at sleep mode. Actually I am using a USB audio DAC/amplifier. At sleep mode, it still got power. It drains the battery and the audio DAC/amplifier is always on 24 hours which will shorten its life span.

In the BIOS, there is the option to disable the USB charging at sleep mode. However, after I disable it, I still find the device got power at sleep mode. I plug my Samsung Galaxy phone to the USB as well. I also find my Galaxy phone is still charging at sleep mode. This BIOS setting is not working at all.

@Freddie_Yeung ,

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum.  Even though you go into the BIOS and turn off the USB charge during sleep mode.  Windows 8.1 may over rule that and keep things running.

You will need to go into the advanced power management in windows and made sure those are turned off.

As well here is a link to your systems support page.  Here you will find a BIOS update if yours in not already updated.

However in general when you put your system into sleep mode disconnect the USB connection.

Thank you again for posting and have a great day.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have already upgraded to the latest BIOS.

In the advanced power management, I have tried both "enable" and "disable" in the "USB selective suspend setting".

After all these, the USB still has power to the device or charging at sleep mode.

@Freddie_Yeung ,

Hi again and thanks for posting back with the information.  After you doing all that the only thing that may be causing this is a issue with the BIOS Chip taking the command.  If that is the case and this is important.  You will want to contact HP phone support for repair options.
