hi all, I'm very sorry to bother you with this old laptop, I'm trying to update it before giving it for free to a teenager that can't afford a new one...
my only problem is that HP decided to cancel support page for this model so any dv9000 link on this forum is now broken.
model is Pavilion dv9000 RR330EA#ABZ, Intel based, just factory restored and running XP
any help appreciated
best regards

Hi:
The product number you posted decodes to a HP Pavilion dv9084EA, correct?
If so, here is the latest BIOS update for that model...
Info:
WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with Intel
Processors) - Microsoft Windows Based
Version | F.2E |
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48121.html

Paul thank you soooooo much from Italy 🙂 yes, dv9084EA, just flashed with no issues. I was hitting my head against the wall since 1hour before posting here...
is there a public DB where any user can look for these products that HP removed?
best regards

Prego!
Yes there is, but there is no directory of models they are for.
How I found the one you needed...googled the product number, it gave me the dv9084ea.
Sometimes you can also check the HP Part Surfer website and enter the product number and it may give the model number.
http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx
Then I googled dv9084ea drivers, and found a bunch of 3rd party websites that offer drivers. Some are rather useless, but some list the driver file names and downloads (sp#####).
Some even offer the actual files, but I rather get them directly from HP to ensure there are no viruses.
So, then I look up the sp number in the above HP ftp site to see if it exists there.
Not a sophisticated way of doing things, but it works for the most part.
If the file number has a corresponding txt, html, or cva file (the one I gave you had a corresponding html file), those give the description of what the driver is, for what operating system, what model series, etc.
So with a lot of detective work, and a little luck, you can still find the drivers for almost any HP PC made in the last 20 years.
