I have run the BIOS uodates etc and the sound cant be heard. what else can be done, Vidya

The sound on my hp pavilion dv6604nr stopped working and its says there is no device. I also noticed that Base System Device Driver Missing, maybe it is connected because I tried downloading audio drivers but It didnt work. I downloaded chipset drivers, it worked for one day and yet again no sound today.
