Good luck everyone.

I have also returned all five units I had.
There are days with no brightness and the battery on most would just drop.
I could not wait for the bios update that has been spoken off from hp to play games.
If a 499$ machine can hold a charge better than a $1499.99Canadian $ machine well you know something is wrong.

Now I'll be receiving a new unit to see if my unit is one of the ones affected. If this new unit that I will be reciving is also affected then I'll be getting a refund even though it's been about 2 months.
If the replacement unit is ok, then I'm happy and problem is solved. Otherwise I return the replacement unit and get a refund.

Spoke to HP support. They stated Sphnix doesn't apply for my laptop and asked that I mail it in for hardware issues. Given that this would push me past the return period I'm going to return it to Best Buy and hope a replacement fixes this issue.
Good luck everyone.
So which model laptop does the Sphinx fix not apply to?

Got my new spectre x360 from Best Buy - after three days of letting it sit, its still draining about 4% a day. I've given up on this laptop. Returning it today and going back to my old MacBook Air until I can find a good laptop to buy.
It's really too bad - the HP Spectre x360 is a great laptop otherwise.
HP Support also said the Sphinx fix doesn't apply to this laptop - Sphinx was applied by the factory. It is most likely a bad battery controller which requires me to mail the laptop in. Not worth the hassle in my opinion.
Good luck everyone.

After waiting vainly for several weeks for there to be a BIOS fix for this issue, I called HP support and opened up a case.
I was very pleasantly surprised; the support person knew exactly what was happening and had the Sphinx fix queued up. She remotely accessed my desktop and applied the Sphinx patch. The first attempt failed (flash program locked up) but we rebooted and tried again and this time it took.
She mentioned that R&D is very aware of the problem and they are actively gathering data for their R&D folks for a more permanent fix.
I was expecting a big hassle and arguments and having to send the machine in to be fixed and was very pleased at how things turned out and their support.
From Saturday @ 1am at 100% charge to Sunday @ 4pm, the battery dropped to 94%. That's not surprising given that everyone reports that same drop from 100% so I tested for another day. Monday @ 7pm the battery was at 92% so it dropped 2% in one day.
I'm good with that; case closed for me.
