@Demogo it's funny how your situation is so similar to mine! I also called HP yesterday for this issue, the guy was aware of the issue and tried to install the Sphinx patch with no success. Then I rebooted and retried, installed successfully.
Now I know some of you are reporting an updated Sphinx update.exe?
The exe that the tech launched to install the patch on my PC is:
flash_Rev9_TI14_B8_Sign.exe
Am I ok or should I reinstall the patch another way?
After leaving the laptop shut down and disconnected from the AC adapter I'm getting the 6% drop like everyone but the battery drain afterwards seems minimal.
I just updated the NVMe controller driver and I'm about to install the Win10 Anniversary update. Will keep you posted.
FYI I asked the HP tech if the Sphinx patch was updating the Thunderbolt controller and he told me it has nothing to do with it. He said it was updating the code (firmware?) of some ICs on the motherboard so that they power off completely like they should.

Do you have your Thunderbolt Software installed? You can find it on the support pages of your specific model. Reinstall the software and try again. After that you can check firmware versions in the thunderbolt software.

I've been so focused on what my spectre is doing when it is powered off that I hadn't spent much time with it sleeping. Somewhere along the way, the windows hello camera has stopped working after it wakes up from a sleep. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't like that when I first got it. however, in addition to the sphinx update multiple times, I've also done other updates and a BIOS update. I don't see anything that specifically mentions the camera, though...
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this...I did some googling around and someone said I needed to update the camera driver but when I checked it said that there wasn't a new driver for it. I actually don't mind just typing in the pin but I'm not sure what else is affected...

I gave up on the Spectre x360. Just too much trouble for what should be a premium laptop. I had three of them from Best Buy over the course of two months. All said "Sphinx-step" on the box, meaning the Sphinx fix had already been applied. No matter, they all drained at about 12% in a 24 hour period when off.
I sent one in for repair of the battery drain problem. Took them two weeks. When it came back, it still didn't work correctly. Plus there were other problems. Of the three I had, two had audio issues where the audio would suddenly get very soft or cut out altogether. One had a camera that would not focus. Interestingly, that camera identified itself in hardware as a different model than the other two. One of the units had a loose trackpad that would rattle when touched.
Again, just really poor quality for a premium product. And to add insult to injury, a rep from the TCO Escalations Team said that battery drain while off of this magnitude was normal for the x360, proven by the fact that I had three of them and they all worked the same way. Say what? HP tech support really doesn't know what they are talking about.
While I was testing the battery drain problem, I did similar tests on a Surface Pro 3 and a five year old Lenovo Thinkpad. Niether of them showed the battery drain anomolies exhibited by the Spectre x360. I'm done. I've returned all the x360s and won't be buying HP again.
