I mean as much as I love tape, never thought I would have to use it on my laptop hinges that are no longer there!!!! I can't even shut the laptop closed now and the whole thing is just busted. I'm about to take a hammer to it, throw it in the ocean, maybe toss it in the road and hope it gets destroyed but a sewage truck, anything!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I have the same problem with my dm1-4175sa. Here`s one suggestion:
1. Start up the notebook. You see the messege - plugged in, not charging.
2. Remove the battery and wait for a while. After a few seconds the notebook shows - plugged in (no battery)
3. Reinsert the battery and wait again a couple of seconds.
After this steps I was nice surprised - pluged in, charging!

Hello Damilarelr,
thanks for the replay. I have done all 14 steps from the previous page - but no luck for me...
There is one more thing - bacause of this problem I`m now with fresh installed Windows 8(problem still exists) and there is no 'COMPOSITE BATTERY' ( just AC Adaptor and Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery - both removed)
I think the bios is the problem, because when I remove the battery and reinsert it again the notebook start to charge normally, but after restart the same problem.
