My hp laptop freezes when i try to turn it on. it freezes at the bios with the hp logo in the middle, and press escape at the bottom left. when the machine is truned on within the first 5-6 sec i can asses the escape botton, if i dont it freezes after that.
i have tried hdd and memory diagnosics but both passed, but i am not able to asses the bios settings. the other F bottons freezes
pls i need help to turn on the machine thanks.

i really appreciate the help and support you gave me. my machine is working perfectly and i was able to change the bios password using hp protect tools management. thanks very much.

If you remove the hard disk and then boot up the machine does the BIOS freeze?
Are you able to access it with the F10 key?

Removing the memory to test it is not helpful. The resulting black screen is what is to be expected.
Have you ever updated the BIOS?
Have you considered trying to recover the BIOS? see the following document for details. Try the restore option first.

i tried to recover the bios(after going through the steps) the screen is black the power button in on and the light on the caps lock is blinking and it has been so for the past one hour and i can hear the fan blowoing.

Good morning i tried both the restor and update from a usb but both gives the same effect. screen goes black, power light stays on. caps lock led blinks and i can hear the fan blowing. it stays like that for hrs

You haven't identified your notebook with its product name or product number. I have no idea as to its warranty status.
Is the warranty still in effect? (the free warranty is for one year)

In or out of warranty?
Connect an external display to the notebook to see if a Windows login screen is visible.
Follow the troubleshooting on the following document.
