I cannot get my bluetooth radio driver to work. I have tried installing the driver from hp, as well as previous drivers, and the error I get is "Windows found driver software, but encountered an error while attempting to install it. System cannot find the file specified"
Very frustrating. I have run a recovery on my laptop, but it still won't accept the driver. I've checked my bios, and there is no option to change any bluetooth settings. I also cannot seem to download an hp wireless assistant to help install it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:
Please go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters category.
There you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.
Post that info.
The model wireless network adapter determines what bluetooth driver you need if the adapter is bluetooth capable as well. Not all of them are.

Hi:
The Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter is a wireless adapter that has a bluetooth radio.
You need this bluetooth driver for that model wireless card.
This package contains the driver installation package for the Realtek bluetooth in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
File name: sp72552.exe

When I install that driver, I get this message "Realtek Bluetooth is not installed on your system" This is after it asks me to confirm bluetooth is enabled on my system. Is there a way to see if it is enabled, and where would I look for that?
Thanks again
Darren

You're very welcome, Darren:
Check the Device manager and see if there is a Bluetooth Radios device category.
If there is, the BT radio is enabled.
If there isn't, then the BT radio is not enabled.
Check the PC settings in Windows 8.1 and confirm that the BT is turned on.
If the setting is not present or grayed out, unfortunately, I don't know what the issue could be.
But it is possible the BT portion of the wireless card is defective.

The device is under "Other Devices" under the device manager. It has an exclamation point over it and the properties show
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
When I try to update driver, I receive the message I posted earlier... .Hmm.. This is a weird one. Maybe I'll just buy a usb one.

I guess you can try other versions of the driver.
Here is a link to the driver. If you click on the revision history tab, you will find other versions to try...

Very frustrating indeed.
When I load one of the drivers in the page you suggested, I can get the bluetooth radio installed, but then it gives me a list of about 4 or 5 other devices in the "other devices" category in device manager. I run a system restore, and then I am able to fix all of the drivers in the device manager, but then, my bluetooth will not work. I can connect to bluetooth devices (my bluetooth speaker) and no sound comes out. There is no bluetooth default option in my sound properties.
Seems the more I install the latest updates, the more it jacks up my devices.
