Hi rc98,
 

I understand you are getting an error when trying to connect a device.  Check this out  for understanding and troubleshooting Bluetooth Wireless Technology. On this page you will find a link which will allow you to put in the exact model # of your HP g42 and download the correct Bluetooth driver. You will see a list of downloads available please click on the Driver-Network section. I hope this helps, please let me know if you need more assistance.

i am getting problem in g42 hp laptop of bluetooth periferal problem  not connecting driver of Bluetooth Peripheral Device
