Also it appears I have an older bios software. Current version is F.24a where as CPUz says I have F.13

Hi,

CPU Socket
Socket 479 mPGA

North Bridge
Intel i943/940GML rev 03

Unfortunately, after digging for more info I found out that there is a limitation in the i943/940 GML chipset: it does not support 2 core processors (it was designed for Celeron M processors :(). Here is an excerpt from Intel documentation:
"Mobile Intel® 940GML Express Chipset Feature Support
All features supported by Mobile Intel 945GM/945GME Express Chipset shall be supported by Intel 940GML Express Chipset unless noted otherwise below. However, The Mobile 940GML Express Chipset does not include support for External Graphics via a PCIe interface.
Processor Support
• Celeron M processor (Intel Core processor based), Celeron M processor ULV
• 533-MHz FSB support only

Mobile Intel® 943GML Express Chipset Feature Support
All features supported by Mobile Intel 940GMLGM Express Chipset shall be supported by Intel 943GML Express Chipset unless noted otherwise below.
System Memory Support
• Support for Dual-Channel Interleaved mode of operation"

And I also found somebody who tried the upgrade to dual core (on another forum) for the same model/configuration as mine and he said it did not recognized the second core(the notebook didn't start when the 2nd core was enabled).
Would a Core Solo (533 FSB) work with my current configuration? What other single core socket M proc would be a good upgrade?

Yeah I've searched the web and came across that too. I'm hoping the core solo works. It'll be a small bump in performance.

I got the Intel T1350 installed and it works. Definitely seems to run better than the Celeron M 410.
