I have had a massive HDD failure. I found a spare 250Gb and installed a copy of windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on it. Sadly I don't own windows 8 or 8.1 that my laptop was designed for. So my question is ther anyway to get drivers for this laptop using 7 64bit os? I know I can get the amd apu driver via amd.com but not sure about the rest. Most important one is my wireless and USB 3.0 drivers. But all would be best. I have looked in official drivers but only 8 and 8.1 drivers made for this computer. And as old as it is this is my only option for looking for help.
thanks in advance, Alice

Try the Windows 7 drivers for the 455 G1 which uses the same processor series and chipset. You will find the AMD chipset and USB 3.0 at least

Hi:
You can use all of the W7 x64 drivers and software from the g7z-2100 on your model, except the wireless, BIOS and firmware files.
Wireless:
This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

You will not be able to install the smbus controller by using the drivers from the 455 G1 support page, so you would be better off installing the AMD chipset drivers (1st file at the link below) and restart the PC.
That one file will install the smbus, usb and other motherboard drivers as well.

Yes, but you have the right to reinstall Windows 8, and then take the free upgrade to 8.1

For a small fee, HP will sell you a USB memory-stick that you can use to reinstall Windows 8.
Note that Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7 in January 2020 -- less than 3 years from now.
At that time, you'll need to install Windows 8, to stay "supported" until 2023 (if your computer survives that long).
Or, in 2020, purchase a "retail" copy of Windows 10, and install it.

Hi:
In the device manager, are there any devices still showing up that need drivers?
If there are, you would see them listed in the device manager under an Other Devices category and they will have little yellow triangles next to them with little ! marks within the triangles.
If you see any such devices, post the names of them, and I will post the direct links to the drivers you need for those devices.
