Yes if you just follow along and let @Paul_Tikkanen help you, the laptop can be running perfectly right now, today at no additional cost to you. Windows 7 can be made to run on it. Nothing is broken it just needs a little help.

it shows no missing drivers. some i had to have windows serch for on the internet. but i think somethings like my keyboard is messed up and track pad is tottaly not working. i been doing windows updates since 9pm on 2017/02/22, but still long way to go it hasent even gotten to SP1 yet. so im hopping when it updated maybe it will work but curently using my Logitech Wierless Trackball M570. i am thinking about geting a Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350 & Wireless Headset H600 to fix some the isues im having. nice thing is those all use the same reciver in the usb 2.0 port next to power plug port.

You can install SP 1 from the standalone download link below.

The synaptics touchpad driver from the g7zs support page should have worked, or you can use the W8 touchpad driver from your notebook's support page which also has the W7 driver included.

im not sure its a driver issue. i think it may be physicaly broken

If it is physically broken, then ordering W8 recovery media would be throwing good money after bad.

It depends.

If the trackpad is not working, then it should be possible, via:  http://PartSurfer.hp.com to order a replacement, and get a computer technician to disassemble/replace/reassemble (? $100 for his/her time & the parts.)

Or, if the trackpad is not working, then use an external wired/wireless mouse.

Also, if you anticipate that the computer will still be in working order after January 2020, then you will need to spend a few dollars (under $40 US) for the Windows 8 Recovery Media, or to spend more (over $100 US) for a copy of Windows 10,  or, as one Other Person said to me in a different thread, install some variant of Linux.

Note that HP does not "forever" allow one to purchase the Windows 8 Recovery Media -- it may not be available in 3 years.

Or, of course, in 2020, one could purchase a brand-new computer.

Look in "Thrift Stores" or the small owner/operator computer stores for a USB keyboard.

Probably under $5 for a "pre-owned" unit.
