Can I upgrade my processor from i3 350m to anything better?

As stated, the processor can be upgraded. It is in a socket very similar to a desktop socket. However, it is the electronic equivalent of brain surgery. And it definitely voids the warranty. I have done it many times but I don't like to do it because it is tricky and one little slip trashes the laptop or if you forget one little step you have to go back and do it all again. Heat is an issue. They make one cooling device and since it is used for all processors offered by HP with the laptop it should work for an upgrade.The cooling fan is a proprietary part is what I am saying, there is no upgrade available. When you do the upgrade (if you do it) use a good quality thermal compound and apply it properly (a very thin coat on top of the cpu core).

I was wondering about thermal issues as well.  Some CPUs within a family might throw off significantly more heat than a slower, less expensive version.  But maybe this is already accounted for in notebook cooling system design.

I am not that familiar with mobile processor families, for example the thermal power dissipation specs of the various Core i3 models.  That data might be a clue as to whether cooling will be a problem if you upgrade.

I'm not very knowledgeable on this matter but I was considering the same upgrade from an i3 350M. If I were to install an i5-2540M Processor would this also upgrade the graphics of the laptop? Or is the graphics built into the computer board?

Is there any newer than those i7 processors that would still be able to work in a dv6 3225dx?
