I figured it out you have to go and roll back the driver from your monitor. To do this go into your your control panel then display then screen resolution, then click advanced settings and then go to monitor. then after that click properties then click driver and after that you roll back driver and everything goes good

I am having the same issue with my fn+f2 and f3 keys. I've had this laptop for over a year. Its a big bummer. I've been working around it by clicking on the battery but that defeats the convenience of these convenience buttons!

What version does it rollback to? Mine doesn't give me the option to rollback. It's greyed out and I have driver version 6.1.7600.16385

GM that doesn't make the contrast keyboard button work.

Resolver, again, this doesn't make the keboard button work.

Hello @controlsgirl ,

I understand your brightness shortcuts are not working on your notebook.

It would help to know which product and operating system you are using. For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? To see which version of Windows you are using click here: Which Windows operating system am I running?

I look forward to your reply! Smiley Happy

Hey controlsgirl,

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the ProBook 4730s is a commercial product. You can do this here Notebook - HP ProBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE

You might find installing the divers for the HP HotKeys helps. You can find these here: HP HotKey Support

The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime: HP ProBook 4730s Notebook PC.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

Hi all,

I dont know if this will work for you but it solved my issue.

Short answer: HP MyDisplay

Long answer:

I have an HP Touchsmart610, the display controls are in the keyboard. They stopped working after my brightness was set as 0. Not fantastic. I checked for updates for the drivers for my keyboard and monitor with no luck.

Went to the HP website and found all of the available downloads for my computer model. One of the downloads was for MyDisplay, a separate program that lets you choose from a number of set brightness/contrast options and lets you choose your own settings aswell.

For me the problem is solved, I hope it helps some of you guys too.

you must have stopped the sevice "hpHotkeyMonitor service" accidentally or deliberately to fasten start-up. Start it again manually and change it to "automatic (delayed)".
