Sanchertx's response seems to be closest, but I don't think this is a wireless issue.

This is likely an issue with the Quickplay/Quicklaunch tool bar.  Those buttons are not suppose to be just indicators,  they should allow you to change volume, skip songs, turn on and off wireless etc...  If you cant skip songs/change volume then nothing else on that bar is going to work... including the wireless... Shame its stuck off...

You should be able to use the Recovery manager to reinstall all the Quickplay/Quicklaunch hardware and software drivers, look through the advanced section, knowing HP there will be 3 or 4 different drivers that will need to be reinstalled for that one bar.

of course its always best to get latest drivers from the HP support website.

finally found the wireless button on my dv4...embedded withing the wireless indicator light...run your finger over the light to turn it on/off. You will not feel anything, but you'll get a message on your screen telling you whether wireless is enabled or not.

Hi!

I know where my wireless button is, but it won't work and wireless is turned off. I tried to turn it on manualy but it's not working.

I tried to enable it throug Mobility center but I can't change it there, I also tried to enable it through HP Wireless assistant, but it's not working.:catmad:

What should I do to enable wireless conection? I'm pretty frustrated...

I have a similar problem with my laptop computer HP Pavilion dv4-1225dx. When it was loaded Win Vista, the wireless adapter was working properly and the wireless button usually was in blue color.

After when I upgrade the OS to Win 7, the wireless adapter seemed that was working properly and actually it was, but the wireless button never turned from orange color to blue color.

The solution I found:

0) Upgrade the BIOS (maybe this step is not necessary because at the moment of trying to solve my problem I did this before)

1) Download and install the package HP Wireless assistant. This for sure will help to enable and turn on the wireless adapter and wireless button.

I hope this could be useful at this moment.

Hello,  I found out how to turn on my wireless per instructions.  But now when I try to go to the internet the broadband connection screen comes up.  My blue wireless connection signal is on and it shows I am connected to the wireless connection but I can't get past this broadband screen.  Any ideas?

Thankyou

Hello timmers,

I see that you are having problems with a broadband pop up box when trying to use the wireless internet. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.

Can you provide the model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

What operating system are you using? What does the broadband message box say?
