You bought a new car but can't see outside the windows?
Return the notebook for a full refund and buy something else. Didn't you look at the notebook before purchase? <text deleted>

Dude,
That's cold. How do you know what the lighting was like when they purchased the laptop? Maybe the bright-fluorecent lights at Best Buy showed the letters well, but under less-than-ideal lighting they are not so visible, possibly because the purchaser has a vision problem.
Or maybe they bought it over the interweb and only saw the photochopped pic.
IOW, don't be a hater.

Thank you for defending me. All that probably happened and it wasn't until I saw my daughter's computer that I thought, "this is intelligent!".
But the Mac was almost $900 more. I got the poor girl's laptop I guess. I may just have to put tape on a few keys. Tacky but may have to do it.

NP,
I'm not super-jazzed with the keyboard on my laptop. For some perverse reason they made the right shift-key the same size as a normal key. I'm looking into a replacement that has a full-sized shift key and is backlit. I think I might have found one. Swapping out a keyboard is best left to the mechanical-type.

That would take me from a $500 computer plus $349 for Microsoft office to almost the price of the mac i didn't get.
mine unfortunately is only a few months old.
I'm adjusting to a notebook and like the typing angle of a desktop so I have to adjust, that's all.
I put little post it scraps on the little finger keys/ the end keys where my typing fingers go and stick its on a few other keys so I'm not constantly having to look down and find the right keys.
Arghh.

I contacted HP today and they are replacing my keyboard. That is so decent of them. Thanks for your help. Now I won't have to keep the little yellow stickies on my computer to be able to place my fingers.
xx
