Hello all, I just recieved my demo unit from HP and I am trying to boot to USB from the elitepad using the dock and the jacket. I logged into Windows 8 and opened HP Bios Utility and made sure "Boot from USB Device" was set to "On". However when i boot the tablet and hit F9 or Power+Volume Down, the only boot options I get are "OS Boot Menu" and "IPV4 and IPV6". I have my bootable USB drive plugged in before going to the boot menu, but no matter what I cannot get it to allow me to select "boot from USB"
I also changed the boot order in Windows using the HP Bios Utility but that not work either.
Im hoping I can get some help soon.
THanks!

Hello,
You're not alone fighting with that problem. I'd like to re-install Elitepad with W8 Enterprise but in case I do have only "OS Boot Manager" -option.
I don't even have the dock station to re-install from Windows..
Are You trying with FAT32 -format USB -media?
They told me at support, that it should be in FAT32.

I'm struggling with the same issue. Rumour has it we will recieve the docking station for it tomorrow. Hopefully PXE boot will work. On a sidenote I got USB DVDRom working.
Update: Formatting the USB as fat32 worked.

Prepare the USB Drive:
The user will need to format a USB key. This key will need to be at least 4GB. The key should be USB 2.0 compliant and should not be USB 3.0 compliant. Run the following commands in the command prompt (highlighted):
Diskpart
List disk
(find disk number for USB key; using ‘a’ as example below)
Sel disk a
Clean
Create partition primary
Sel part 1
Assign
Active
Exit
Format x: /fs:fat32 /v:Recovery /q /y
(replace x with USB drive letter)
After that I extracted W8 Enterprise -installation media to USB.
I'm not happy enough yet, because my SCCM boot media doesn't work..
I'll keep working on it and of course keep posting if I figure out the solution.
Cheers!

Did anyone resolve this. I recieved one yesterday and I have not been able to boot to USB to load my custom corporate image. I have:
1. Formated a USB Fat32 that's less than 2GB.
2. Set the BIOS setting in windows to boot via USB
3. Help down the power button and the down volume button on boot, no USB option availalbe.
4. Went to PC Settings>General>Advanced Startup> and Selected Use a Device>USB Device - no options work
All of which have failed. It simply reboot or give me a errors saying system does not have any USB boot option.

Hi Guys,
sorry to hear that you are fighting the same battle as me with these lovely machines, we have just bought our first batch of 25, and are up against the same issue, i.e. no way to use the normal familiar Imaging tools that we do for all other machines... (we are flexible!, everything from WDS to Ghost has been tried!)
We have a support case open with HP, currently being escalated to level 2 (told I have to wait 24-48 hrs for my next update!)... Have basically tried all combinations of everything I have come across, doubled through HP's troubleshooting process... Let me summarise....
- Machine will boot to a Fat32 USB, but only when that USB contains a valid Windows 8 installation media, i.e. I was able to install windows 8 enterprise with no trouble, whereas any other USB will not only boot, it will not be presented as an option at boot time...
- Machine will not boot to PXE, IPV4 fails to find network, IPV6 waits then fails with no error message.
My thoughts are that this is due to the great new feature of windows 8, secureboot, that links in with the ElitePad Uefi BIOS... Other Forums relating to other hardware run into this same problem, until they are able to turn off secureboot in the BIOS settings, and enable Legacy Bios support, which we don't have the option to do...
It seems that the ElitePad BIOS is a bit Half-Baked, and needs some further work to support secureboot (and its Disabling) fully.
I'll keep you posted with the developments with my support case, they have assured me that it will be resolved, and I know it will, just would hope that the resolution does not require me to return 25 machines to HP

I installed MDT2012 Update 1 & Windows ADK on to x86 Windows 7.
After that I created Depolymentshare to a network share, imported already sysprepped and captured W8 Enterprise .wim -file with Windows Setup -files and required drivers.
Then I edited the Task Sequence as I desired and Updated Deploymentshare.
Also formatted the USB -drive to FAT32 and extracted the contents of Litetouch86.iso and booted with it.
I still git some configurations waiting with the unattend.xml and bootstrap.ini
SecureBoot is "Off".
I'll test SecureBoot tomorrow, 'cause Windows ADK includes support for that.
I don't have WDS server installed.
Hope this helps!

Hp finally help me resolve. The issue was it has to boot with Windows PE 4.0 and NTFS. I boot now with a 16GB FAT partition with no problems. I also was instructed to download files from ftp://winpe4+NL7dt^@ftp.usa.hp.com and copy to drive.
Worked like a charm.
