Hi,
I have recently purchased (less than a month) my HP Envy 15-k004ne Notebook PC. It was working fine till yesterday. Suddenly my wifi went off. I can't even see my wireless device under Network Adapter in Device Manager. I did a recovery and hard reset.. Still no use. I updated my BIOS also. When I did a Wireless Module Test, it shows "NOT INSTALLED".
I am very upset with this issue as it is the first time I encounter something like this.
Request a fast solution.
Regards,

Hello Cujo322 and hpenvy_ambi,
You are both experiencing hardware issues, and I would call HP support. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide

I'm having the same problem. I, too, will avoid HP computer products. I'll also share my experience with HP with everyone I know and advise them to avoid HP machines too.
It's kind of sad, though. HP used to stand for quality products. I remember only a few decades ago HP used to produce the best products around. Not any more, I guess.
I didn't get the extra year service plan, so I've got no Geek Squad support. Maybe, after I've replaced this laptop, I'll just disect the thing to see what's inside.

After I did a restart of my Envy I right-clicked on the network icon on the right side of the task bar. That presents a two-item menu that has "Troubleshot problems" and "Open Network and Sharing Center".
Next I clicked on "Open Network and Sharing Center". (This is the way I got to it, but it might work by going straigh to "Troubleshoot problems".) From here I got a dialog box with three items presented. I forget the left-most one, but the middle one (I think) was Bluetooth, and the last one was Wi-Fi. I selected Wi-Fi. and from the toolbar across the top I selected Troubleshoot. Another popup window and popped up and there may have been some obvious action I had to do here, but I can't remember it clearly. Anyway, it presented the results of its diagnosis: it wan't "turned on". There was an item called something like "apply fix", I click it and moments later I had network discovery enabled and my Wi-Fi was working as it should.
I'm sorry that some of the steps are a little vague, but I am unable to repeat the process as my device is working, so the troubleshooting doesn't detect a problem, so I can't get to the same windows as before.
My conclusion: Something is deactivating the software that enables wi-fi detection. Follow these steps and, inconveniet though it may be, you can turn it back on.
I remain very disappointed with my HP Envy because of this and other problems I'm having. It is VERY unlikely that I will ever buy another HP product, but I'm stuck with the one I have now for the time being.
I hope others find this as effective as it has been for me.
Best of luck,
Patrick

I have exactly the same problem with my hp envy 15 k020us. I tried to follow your instructions: going to the device manager and uninstall the wireless driver. The problem is that it didn't reinstall by itself.. how can I install it back.
I have no ethernet cable so no internet ar all. Writing from my tablet.
Thanks

I have just re-installed Windows 8.1 on my HP laptop envy 17 serial number [Personal Information Removed]. I downloaded all my drivers from HP website. The problem is that I can see all the access points available in the building from different companies but not the one in my office, this was not the case before re-installing the laptop. I have disables the wifi adaptor, uninstalled it in device manager but no luck. All my drivers are up to date in the device manager. Anyone out there with the same problem?

I seemed to have had the same issue. Last night my wifi was working fine and today all I could see on the wifi icon was the airplane mode turned on/off. So I just right clicked on the Start button and opened Network Connections and it turned out that my wifi was disabled. I right clicked on that, enabled the wifi and it worked! I hope it works for you guys, too!
