Hello All,

I have a HP Laptop, namely HP Probook 6550b.  It's webcam is not getting detected.

I tried to install the driver sp52437 from hp.com, but it says not compatible for the device.

Then tried with sp47793, but received an error saying that "ALSMON has stopped working".

Can you please arrange the correct drivers or provide a solution for this?

Hi Dunidar,

Thank you for your response.

The Computer has Windows 7 OS and is a 64-bit operating system.

I am working for HP too, so I always check for drivers and required softwares in hp.com, but the ones I had downloaded and tried to install gave error messages while installing, saying that they were not compatible.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Ayushman

So the sp52437 should be the correct driver for your machine running Windows 7 64-bit. All I can think of is that there has been something installed and update or software that has changed your computer enough that the new driver does not recognize the device properly. The sp47793 driver is not for your computer at all so it is not a surprise that it did not work.

What I would recommend that you try is installing the original driver that came with your computer. I am providing you with an HP Support document titled Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7) that will provide you with instructions on how to recover your original drivers.

I hope this resolves your issue and gets your webcam back up and running correctly for you. Thank you for posting your issue on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

I have read a few of the responses on here from HP employees about  this webcam issue. I have also downloaded the software and hardware from www.hp.com for what I beleived was correct for my laptops webcam with no success. I tried to pull up RECOVERY MANAGER and my computer does not have that option. Please help me find a solution to reinstalling my webcam and microphones.

After all downloads, my device manager [imaging] says the webcam is a USB2.0. That is not pulling up on Skype because it cannot be detected. Is that the proper one and / or did I not finish doing something for it to work? Really need help a.s.a.p.

Thank you
