I was doing an update on my laptop. All I see is a message saying clearing pending image, but it's taking a long time. What do I do?

What kind of update was it?

If it is an upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 just give it some time.

It's a System BIOS Pending Image. It's 100% complete, but nothing else is happening.

That is a BIOS update.  You may end up having to recover the BIOS. A BIOS update done within Windows by the HP Support Assistant should not take very long.

What has happened since yesterday?

Nothing has happened. The message is stilll there. I have tried a hard reset. I took out the battery.I have tried everything I can think of,and I am getting very frustrated. What else can I do? I need this laptop for home and school.

Are you able to access the PC UEFI Diagnostics?

Press power button, tap the Esc key at 1 seond intervals to invoke the startup menu. In the startup menu choose F2. In the PC Diagnostics menu choose firmware management.  YOu should be able to rollback to the previouos BIOS.

My Laptop started having the same issue this morning, I can't get past the "Clearing pending image " screen. I'm wondering if it is an automatic update gone wrong?
