Hi,
I am about to upgrade the processor for my Compaq 6510b -laptop, which currently has the Intel Celeron 540 (1.86 GHz) processor. I have studied the latest International version of the quickspecs document (p. 4), which says that the laptop should be compatible with the Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 processor, which I would be interested in upgrading to.
However, I noticed that there are 4 different "versions" of this processor on the market from Intel's product descripition. These "versions" are called: SLA43, SLAF7, SLA3M and SLADL. Now I am about to buy the tray (not boxed) SLAF7 -model, but would like confirmation that this model does indeed work with the Compaq 6510b -laptop?
I did some extra research about the 4 models and thought that I would make a short summary about them as well, as somebody might find it useful. From my understanding and looking at the "Ordering / sSpecs / Steppings" -page on the left hand side of the Intel product description page, the two latter models (SLA3M, SLADL) are Ball Grid Array (BGA) models, thus meaning that they are soldered on the motherboard and therefore I cannot use them for an upgrade. However, the SLA43 and the SLAF7 models are both Pin Grid Arrays (PGA) and therefore I should be able to upgrade to either of these. The only difference between the SLA43 an SLAF7 models is that they have different steps: "E1" and "G0". However, it seems that in practice this difference in stepping is neglible. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks in advance for your help!

The best way to get more info is by checking the specs on the part numbers for the optional INTEL CPUs to keep the search for upgrade candidate simple.
Intel Core Duo T7700 2.4-GHz with 4 MB of L2 cache 446894-001
This one can be found at a reasonable price. the first one I found was offered at $60.00 USD.
