Recently while working on my Mini I got a notice to install a Windows update. It started installing then tried to reboot the machine. When it tried to restart it got as far as the initial screen - showing "F9=Change Boot Device Order" and "F10=BIOS Setup Options" but won't progress past that to start. I've tried hitting both of these keys, plus F8 and F11 based on other posts I've read, with no response. I don't have a restore disk for this. Are there any options for bringing this back to life?

Hello sfolsteinmke,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you are having problems booting up your PC. It would help to know which product and operating system you are using.

For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
To see which version of Windows you are using click here: Which Windows operating system am I running?

In the meantime, here are some useful links to troubleshoot startup issues.

It's model 110c-1105DX. It runs Windows 7. I don't have a restore disk for it and suspect that's what I need, but if there's another way to get it starting I'd appreciate hearing it.

Hey sfolsteinmke,

Thanks for the information. If the system does not respond when tapping F11 to do a system restore or system recovery you will need the recovery media. For information on obtaining this you can visit our link here: Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive

Furthermore, it may help to contact support if you would rather order the recovery media by phone.

Hope this helps! Smiley Happy

I tried to order it but when I entered my model number it didn't show that the restore disk was available. Could you check to see if it can be ordered? If so I'll place the order. If not are there any other options?

Hey sfolsteinmke,

I also took a look through our website and was unable to find the link as you had mentioned. If the PC is not responding to F11, or any of the boot shortcuts on the BIOS flash screen, you will need the recovery media.

I would suggest contacting phone support. They may have access to the recovery media from another source. You can find the contact information below.

Hopefully you are able to order the recovery media by phone. Best of luck!
