Hey guys,

I've recently been having this problem where I can not enable the Wireless Adaper,

HP Wirless Assistant tells me "This Device is disabled in the device manager and cannot be enabled from Wireless Assistant. It can still be turned off"

However, when I push the WIFI button my laptop it just stays amber/orange regardless what the Wirless Assistant states.

When I goto the Device Manager there's no Wireless Adaper to enable... here's a picture:

And here's when press the wireless button, remeber it stays amber regardless whether it's 'on' or 'off':

 Quick edit:

I've done a system restore/factory reset already but the problem persists.

I think my wireless card is dead, any ways I can test this theory?

I understand the wifi is not enabling and it is missing from the device manager. This is usually the fault of a failed wifi card or a BIOS setting issue (disabled for example).

First, let's try resetting the BIOS and performing a hard reset.

1. Power the system off if it is not already off.

2. disconnect everything from the system (battery, charger, etc.).

3. Hold the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

4. Connect the charger.

5. Turn the system on and press F10 about once a second to enter BIOS.

6. Once in BIOS, press the default key (usually F9) listed at the bottom.

7. Press the save key (usually F5) listed at the bottom.

8. Reboot the system into Windows.

You could also try ensuring the wifi card has a good seating by removing it and reinstalling it as outlined on page 42 of the following guide.
