Hi there,

I have a Pavilion dv5 1126em and I know that its maximum memory is 8gb. It came with 3gb ram (one 1gb module and one 2gb module) I wanted to upgrade that to 6gb of ram by adding a 4gb module in the place of the 1gb module.

Now I know that the ram I have is ddr2 but whenever I go anywhere to get a 4gb ddr2 module they say it doesn't exist and there's only ddr3 4gb ram modules.

So I wanted to know, can I get the 4gb ddr3 ram for my Laptop or won't it work.

My HD got fried a couple of weeks back and I'm getting the new one on the 13th and I will install windows 7 64-bit on that one.

if you need anymore info feel free to ask me here or open the laptop specs from the link above.

Yours truly,

Roxas

Hi,

DDR3 Will not working on your computer. Both the Ram has 240 pins but the notch on the bottom of the card is in a different place.

Its better that you go for 2 ddr2 2gb ram slots. This will give you 4gb of ram and for windows 7 its a good specification.
