I bought HP g6 2235tx two weeks ago. From the beginning, I just think it is normal that dvd rom keep making noise every 5-10 minutes(eventhough its empty). But, now I think it is not normal. Is there any solution for this problem?

Budi_hi,
Your system does not have Health monitor. It has support assistant that does about the same thing, but it mainly just installs updates.
Turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
You should also try to refresh windows.
Here is a link that will walk you through the steps.
It may be a hardware problem with the drive since it has been happening since you got the computer.
You may need to call HP and see what options they have to repair or replace the drive.

Let me know how everything goes
Have a good day.

Hello Budi_hi,
Your CD drive is making a noise.
Do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
Go into device manager and uninstall the CD drive. Restart the computer.
This will uninstall and reinstall the driver for the CD drive.
Go to HP.com and update the Optical drive under Firmware and also the BIOS.
Here is a link to the updates.
Let me know how everything goes
Have a good day.

Hi anthony,
I have hard reset my laptop, uninstall the cd rom and restart. I'm also downloaded those 2 firmware files. But, none of those files update my cd rom. One says " No matched drive detected" and the other one just doesn't run. I'm also try to update the driver from device manager. Do you have other suggestion? my DVD drives is "HP DVD A DS8A9SH"

Hi Anthony,
I have done some research another forum discuss the same problem . http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=70545. They said that the problem is the PC health monitor software. Does my laptop HP G6 2235TX has the similar software like that or software that detects/restart CD rom drive every 10 minutes ?

I've been having the same problem so I tried to follow the instructions in post #8 by Budi_hi.
I refreshed windows 8, did some windows updating, but I'm not sure I turned off Autoplay properly.
Can someone give me steps to turn off Autoplay? When I tried it, it gives me a large list of devices to change the autoplay settings for. Since it's the optical drive that has been giving me problems I tried to change the settings only for the optical drive.
Any advice would be appreciated because I'd really like to fix this issue. Thanks.
