I understand that you want turn off the auto play settings.

 

When you go to the auto play settings, there is an option to a t the top of the page to uncheck use Auto play for all devices.

Hi I have been  having the same porblem with my Pavillion G6 which I bought 15 days back. I tried everything that has been mentioned on this thread including a Windows 8 refresh.  The problem still persists.

I understand you are having issues with the DVD keep making noise. Have you tried a System restore back to Factory Reset? If you have done this the next step is to contact HP support.
