Presario F500
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I've been using Presario F500 for few years. One year ago I started installing Windows 7 32-bit on this computer, and it has worked just fine.

However, 1 month ago, my wireless connection just disappeared, and the indicator light turned orange. No Wireless Network Connection icon in Network Connections, No Wireless card detected in Device Manager, as shown below:

What I've done:

- Check the button to see if I accidentally turned it off (and I didn't)

-  Troubleshooting

- Uninstall and reinstall drivers ( sp53261.exe and sp44923.exe). When I tried to install sp53261 (Atheros driver), it kept saying ""802.11a/b/g/n wireless adapter device not found. the device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system", to which I proceeded to the next attempt.

- Replace new wifi card

- Untick "Allow computer to turn this device off for power saving" option

Nothing worked. I've searched on the Internet for solutions, or similar cases (a lot. It seems Presario series have this in common), and tried all of them.  All I got is disappointment. Now that I've given up on myself, please, HP Support, help me solve this miserable and frustrating problem.

You're very welcome.

If you don't want to purchase an external USB wireless adapter for your current one, then yes, it is time to replace your notebook.

Unless the motherboard is replaced with a good one, the internal wireless in your notebook will never work again.

I have a dv6810us notebook (basically the same hardware as yours), and I am waiting for my wireless to quit.

I don't use it very much, so it may last a little while longer.

Hi:

Unfortunately, you have one of those motherboards with an amd processor and nvidia chipset.

Over time, a few problems develop with that motherboard including the loss of the wireless connection.

What has happened is the power to the slot that powers the wireless card has been cut.

That is why the wireless card has 'disappeared' from the device manager.

Your only option other than to replace the motherboard (and personally, I wouldn't do it) would be to purchase an external usb wireless network adapter if you want to continue to use your notebook.

The same thing happens on the dv2000, dv6000 and dv9000 model series with the nvidia chipsets and amd processors.

Hi, thanks for replying me that soon.

So your suggestion would be... buying a new laptop?
