Hi , I am looking to upgrade my laptop to an ssd , I have 2 750GB hard drives in the laptop but I want to replace one for an SSD and put the operating system on it. Befor that I would really like to know if my laptop has SATA II or SATA III connectors before buying the SSD.

Thanks , alhrona

Hi,

SATA II and SATA III use SAME connectors therefore no need to worry about this. SATA III is backward compatible too. If you wish you can download a program called pc-wizard and check:

3. Check bottom part, it should tell you all:

My suggestion: buy SATA III (pay a bit more) and spend time to do other things.

Hi there.

SATA is backward compatible, so the connectors are the same. The only difference is with the speed - SATA II is 3Gb/s, and SATA III - 6 Gb/s.

As for the program that @banhien suggested, you can download it by clicking on the blue letters "pc-wizard" in his reply.

Hope this helps.

Cheers! 🙂

Hi, I am looking to change my HDD SATA II with a SATA III one. My question is: Can I make this change? I mean...does my laptop support SATA III?

Thanks!
