15 hp notebook
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
I'm seeing this error at first the screen started freezing and some keys on the keyboard stop responding.
Recovery:
The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because q required file is missing or contains error

File error: /windows/system32/winload.efi
Error code: 0xc0000001

You'll need to use the recovery tool on your installation media.if you don't have any installation media( like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer

This message only stays on the screen for abt 5mins then the laptop shuts down. The keyboard stopped working completely since I've seen this message.

Hi @Neshabruce

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to windows and it is stuck on a blue screen with an error.

Don’t worry, we will work together to resolve this issue and It’s a pleasure to assist you in this regard.

I would suggest you to try performing Startup Repair using recovery manager and check.

To perform Startup repair on your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Disconnect all connected devices and cables such as Personal Media Drives, USB drives, printers, and faxes. Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware. Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, or power cord.
  3. Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second, until the Choose your keyboard layout screen or Choose an option, screen displays and then follow these instructions:
    1. In Windows 8 click to select the keyboard layout. This will not be available on Windows 8.1
    2. The computer restarts. If the recovery partition on the hard disk drive is functioning correctly, the Choose an Option screen displays. Click Troubleshoot.

4.  Then select advanced options.

5. You may choose StartupRepair from Advanced boot option.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Startup Repair.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
