Thank you for the advice---well received for sure.  I put it on Cragslist for free to anyone capable of wanting to part it out or fix it--it has a new owner as we speak.

My hard drive failed in just 7 months .doesnt the hard drive have a 3 year warranty ? I contacted the hp people and they won't give me a proper reply or solution . I do not want to spend a lot of money behind a new hard drive . I just want to know if they can fix this ptoblem for a less amount as the warranty is over and also because all the people seem to have the same problem with this pavillion g6.also my battery failed . This laptop is such a flop show . One has to spend so much in fixing it .

We have 12 months in the UK and I was able to get a hard drive replacement with 14 days before it expired. They have sent me a replacement and I sent the faulty hard drive back to them in the same box..
