Folio 9470m notebook with two monitors

Hi all,

I want to use my Folio 9740m notebook with 3 independent display (Built-in display and two external monitor HP L1750).

I tried to connect direct to notebook and docking station but it's not working. Only two displays are working at same time.

Is it possible to use with 3 display (Intel HD graphics 4000 can do that)?

I updated the BIOS and graphics driver, but nothing has changed.

The only laptops I've got working with more than two monitors have the ATI video chipset.  I don't think its possible with the Intel 4000.  One option is a USB to Video adapter.

Several HP laptops support two or more monitors via Eyefinity.

9470 definely supports the setup you are trying to accomplish with the Intel HD graphics card. Are you using the Intel GUI or just using the WIndows interface? On Win 7, right click on desktop area, choose Graphics Properties>>Use Basic Mode for the Intel Graphics, (make sure the lid is open on the laptop) Under the Display section click on Multipl Displays>>on the right side under Active Displays click on the drop down arrow and choose 3. I'm running that setup now.

I try a brand new 9470 with Windows 7. Out of box drivers cannot recognize 3 display only two. Update drivers and Intel Graphics Control Panel but the situation is same. Windows and Intel Graphics Control Panel see the 3 display but cannot recognize at same time so the 3 display is not working.

I'm waiting other updates and I hope it will working ....

Any update on this? I have the same problem here. I dont want to use a dock and want to connect one monitor thru VGA en one monitor thru Displayport. Both monitors are HP 24 inch with a resolution of 1920x1200. I want to use these 2 external monitors and at the same time use the internal screen. Is this setup possible without a docking?

I use the newest Win7 Intel video driver version 9.18.10.3006 with the integrated Intel HD4000 graphics card on the 9470m.

I tried to install the latest BIOS upgrade and latest Intel video driver but the problem is same. Three display isn't working at same time.

It's my understanding that it is a limitation of the 9470M that it cannot do "true" dual head monitor support without driving one of the monitors from an external USB Displayport adapter (HP part C5U89AT).

Attaching to the second displayport in the docking station only works if you want to clone the display or extend the same desktop across two monitors.

This is addressed in the next generation Elitebook hardware and next gen docking station.

I've not been able to get 3 indpendent monitors running either.  I suspect it may have to do with the high resolutions of thw two monitors.  Has anyone tried using lower resolution settings for three monitors (didn't work for me)?

On another note, using the single displayport only allows for a "stretched" desktop environment.  In order to get two independent desktops we had to use one monitor on the displayport in the back of the docking station of the 9470m and use the 2nd monitor on the side displayport which is attached to the laptop itself. This allows you to run two indendent desktops on each of the two monitors without having to get that "Daisy chained" effect where your desktop is just stretched (i.e. when you maximize a window it stretches across both monitors).

The Folio only supports Dual Displayport 1.2 technology which only allows the daisy chain monitors and doesn't support multiple independent desktops, thus your only option is to get one big wide desktop if you connect multiple monitors to a single displayport.

I'd love to get a solution to allow me to use two monitors plus the built-in display!  Any ideas??
