Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)
Hello, I have forgotten the password to my laptop and recovering it through Microsoft isn't an option since I don't have the email linked to that account. I tried to use the esc and f11 when you first turn it on to do factory reset. But it says it doesn't have the required driver or something. Is there any other way of getting into my laptop.

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome !

Has the PC ever been upgraded to newer version of Windows - e.g. Windows 10 ? Or it uses Windows 8.1 even now ?

In order to complete factory reset (using Windows 8.1) and when the built-in recovery is not working, you can use HP original recovery media. Here is the kit for your PC model >> http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-25008-windows-8-64-bit-usb-recovery-kit-717388-004-for-hp-pavilion...

After purchasing it and after arrival, you need to boot from the USB device and follow the instructions to reinstall Windows. Here are the official instructions how to proceed >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net&as=true&section=ccweb&SFS=tdoc&language...

* Note - the PC has ever been upgraded from W8 to W10 and if you want to use Windows 10, please let me know.

Let me know how it goes. Provide your feedback and don't hesitate to post again if something is not clear. Cheers
