Okay, so i have Local Drive ( C: ) and Local Drive ( 😧 ).

I have 2 questions,

First, Can i format my laptop (HP PAVILLION dv9000), the Local Drive ( C: ) to practically make it new again (i.e no games or installed crap) without a disc? because i bought mine without a disc to format! if i can, id be very greatfull if you could tell me how.

Second, I dont have an external harddrive to put all of my photos and videos on, so i can keep them in Local Drive ( 😧 ) and know that they wont be deleted when i format my laptop?

I have Windows Vista 32bit. I decided to format my disc because i was uninstalling programs i didnt want, and accidently uninstalled something which deleted the necessities, such as calculator and Photoshop, and the HP Webcam, even paint!  this really annoyed me so i really want to start off fresh!

THANK YOU in advance! 🙂

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers that are all different. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.

This information may be found on the bottom of your computer or in the battery compartment.

1)  Most consumer computers haven't come with Recovery/Restore discs or operating system discs since around 2003. When you first setup your computer, your should have created a set of Recovery Discs as recommended by HP. If your computer is still functional and the recovery partition (D: drive) is still intact, you can attempt to create these discs now by following the instructions in this HP document. If this doesn't work you may need to order recovery discs by referring to this HP document.

2)  I don't recommend using the "D:" drive for storing anything but the original factory recovery image. If you place anything on this partition / drive, you may accidentally cause it to no longer work. The only safe place to store your precious photos, videos, etc. is on an external media such as DVD, USB flash drive, or external HDD.
