Google browser stopped working on my new hp pavillion touchsmart since yesterday.  It simply won't load any pages.

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with Google Crome. I would recommend that you manually uninstalled Google Crome by following this document by Google. I would then restart the computer and reinstall Google Crome by following this document.
