First time poster to the HP forums, I am really at my wit's end with this issue.

The PC:  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-envy-touchsmart-15-6-touch-screen-laptop-amd-a10-series-6gb-memory-75...

The issue:  WiFi connectivity PLUMMETS when an HDMI cable is plugged in via the HDMI port.

The story:  This issue began when I bought an ASUS laptop (I forget the model) it was a smaller laptop, not quite15".  It worked fine until I plugged in an HDMI cable (brand new).  I figured because the laptop was smaller the HDMI port was located really close to the network adaptor and  causing interference.  Rather than deal with the issue because I bought the laptop new I decided to return it and buy an HP.

Same thing this time around, laptop works perfectly, until an HDMI cable is plugged in.  So now I determined it was probably an issue with the cable.  There is no way two computers of different makes can have the same exact issue.  So I went ahead and replaced the cable.

So I went ahead and bought a shielded, in-wall cable.  That helped a little bit but neglible at best.

This is the cable: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/rocketfish-4-in-wall-hdmi-cable/3720002.p?id=1219093273029&skuId=3720002...

I'm not sure what to do anymore, I don't know if its an issue with hardware, Windows 8.1, drivers, the cable (still) or what.  I really don't want to have to resort to having a physical connection to my router, I feel I shouldn't have to do that.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @gdimitro85,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I have read your post on how your notebook computer loses its WiFi connectivity when plugged into an HDMI port, and I would be happy to help you in this matter!

For further assistance, I will need to know:

  1. If you have any USB 3.0 devices connected to your notebook.
  2. If the issue continues if you plug your HDMI connected computer into a different device.
  3. The Product and Model Number of your notebook computer.
  4. If your computer has completed all of its important Windows Updates.
  5. If you have updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant.
  6. If this is an on-going, or recent issue.

Please re-post with the necessary information, this way I will be able to research this further for you. I look forward to your reply!

Cheers!
