If you can install Windows 10, why not the older ones?.. You can install normally any Operating System. But you have to make sure that there are driver softwares available for the operating system specific to the laptop model. If it is available you can use that Operating system. For HP 15AY503TX the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Drivers are available in HP support site. So you can use it. Hope it help you.

Hi.. I guess i am having kind of a similar problem. But i didn't installed any Graphics driver. The display of my Ay503tx is flashing and i get to see pixels flashing. And yes the keyboard & mouse is not working. I also would like to mention that i hear something is moving inside of my laptop. It seems like something is stuck inside of it. Whenever i flip my laptop right & left, I hear something is moving. I noticed this moving stuff a few weeks before but i kept ignoring it.
Whenever the display of my laptop flashes or its blacked out i have to illegally shutdown it.
I don't think your solution would work with my problem. So i'm planning to go Hp service center tomorrow.
I also don't wanna format my laptop because i have an important project in it. And lot of other stuff that i don't wanna lose.
I hope i will get rid of this problem soon. If you guys have any suggestions please do suggest it. I want to get it repaired as fast as i can so that i can resume my project. Thanks

I had the same issue. So, I would recommend this to you,
Please do not install the Graphics Driver from HP's website for AY503Tx.
I repeat: Please do not install the Graphics Driver from HP's website.
If you have already installed it, then uninstall it from Device Manager & let Windows install it for ya...
