Hey,

My neighbor recently bought a HP 2000-2106TU,  for "everday" use. However he has some trouble with bluetooth.  Bluetooth doesn't work , it is unable to discover any devices nor it is capable of accepting connections. "Allow device to connect" button is also grey-out on bluetooth software.

I don't know which built-in bluetooth module it has got but I think it sounds something like " Bluetooth device (RFCOMM protocol TDI) ". It looks like it has got some incompatible generic Microsoft bluetooth drivers already running on it. After digging HP website, I was unable to find "correct" bluetooth drivers for this particular model. There were some broadcom or atheros drivers out there but I am not sure if they gonna work on this. Since I don't know which bluetooth module it has got it is pretty useless to try broadcom/atheros drivers.

AFAIK it has got ATHEROS wifi 802 b/g/n speeds adaptor. Bluetooth was listed as 4.0 HS but again i don't know which driver to install to make it work. Wifi is working fine so i don't think i need to trigger that fn/F2 button to power bluetooth module (which IMO it is getting the power along with wifi anyway *2 in 1 switch*). It would be great if someone help me to resolve this bluetooth issue. Also let me know if you need additional info.

Here is system info

Please help !

Update: I'd  tried uninstalling drivers then i saw there was "bluetooth usb host controller" popup on device manager screen. then immediately after restarting  windows, windows reinstalled some drivers ( i dunno for which purpose) but its still not working. Anyone has any clue ? There are no compatible drivers on HP site~!!!!

Hello _CHAIRMAN_.

Try the following to make sure everything is discoverable by the bluetooth.

  1. Click Start, type "change bluetooth settings," and press Enter.
  2. When the window loads ensure that "allow bluetooth devices to find this computer," "allow bluetooth devices to connect to this computer," and "alert me when a new bluetooth device wants to connect" are all checked.
  3. Save the changes and reboot the computer.

Let me know the result and have a lovely day.

Unfortunately, everything is already ticked as per you say but still its not working. I guess that is because of generic bluetooth (incompatible) drivers. I am missing something?

Next you should make sure you're using the correct driver.  To do this I'd like you to provide me with the Hardware IDs.  Try the following.

  1. Go to your Device Manager and locate the bluetooth device.
  2. Right click on the device and select Properties.
  3. Navigate to the Details tab and select Hardware IDs from the drop-down menu.
  4. Post these here.

Also, what version of Windows do you have installed?

Have a good day!

Hey,

Thanks alot for replying, Btw windows stopped working ( pc is not booting) so i am reinstalling windows 7 ultimate 64bit (previously had 32bit verison of ultimate). I have got something interesting in BIOS.

It has got atheros AR5B255 combo card which has both bluetooth and wifi adaptors in one card. Since i am reinstalling windows , now i need drivers for both of them.

If you're reinstalling Windows I suggest using HP Support Assistant to download all of your device drivers for you.  This will greatly speed up the process.

You will need to install both the HP Software Framework and HP Support Assistant.

I'll keep an eye out for your update.

That is a great idea !!

I have successfully installed windows, unfortunely i have a doubt, since WIFI is not working how do i access internet  to download all the drivers ? LAN cable is not an option here, we only have WIFI !

Maybe, i have to find WIFI driver first ? right ?

thanks!

Hello again!

I believe this is the driver for your wireless card.

Let me know the result!

Dammn, that WLAN driver worked out great. Now wifi is working flawlessly. thank you!

I have downloaded both hp assistance and hp framework from linl given above but I have  some problems with it. Firstly, I have installed hp assistance, it is working fine but I dunno how to install drivers with it. Whenever I click on Updates , it says no update found. If you have any demo video of how to use it then I will greatly appreciate.

Secondly, after installing hp framework on his lappy, we were unable to locate the software.  It is nowhere to be found on the system. There is no icon whatsoever for that.

How do I access it ?
