Dear helpful people,
I want to update BIOS on freshly bought HP 350 G1 notebook from F.11 to F.12 - which does have only FeeDOS installed. This is why (on my Lenovo) I downloaded http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66501-67000/sp66979.exe, which is HP Notebook System BIOS Update, to create bootable USB to update BIOS. Now, after going through first few steps and getting choices what exactly I want to do, I get all options disabled.
After few hours of trying different things, all 4 USB ports (2x 3.0 and 2x 2.0), 3 different USB sticks I gave up and turned to you 🙂
Why I want to update BIOS: To install Windows 7, because now It stops at a point that CD/DVD drive driver is not found and need to browse for it. On windows site it was written that updating BIOS may help.

Hi:
You don't need to update the BIOS to resolve that problem--and I can't help you with why that isn't working anyway.
It is one of 2 things...the W7 installation media you are using is defective, or if you made the installation media yourself, you didn't get the whole ISO file to download, or you burned it to a DVD at too fast a speed.
or...W7 really needs the sata ahci drivers to install (it can't find the hard drive).
If W7 needs a sata driver, then see if this works...
Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed -- 32 or 64 bit as applicable).
Download and unzip the files onto a usb flash drive without any folders.
With the flash drive and W7 installation media plugged into the machine, boot from the W7 installation media.
After you select the install now option, select the Drive Options - Advanced menu, then select the Load Driver option.
You should now see the storage driver files listed.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.
Follow the prompts and hopefully, W7 will install.
You have also disabled secure boot and enabled legacy mode in the BIOS, correct?
Windows 7 will not install or run with secure boot enabled and legacy mode disabled.

Hi,
OK I gave up on updating BIOS 🙂
And by the way, I'm booting from USB, so speed of burning should no be a problem I guess.
Then as you said, I downloaded that SATA driver, put on my 2nd USB stick, but I get that "CD/DVD missing driver message" just after I click "Install Now" button. So after it prompted to browse for driver, I choose that 2nd USB, winowds installer found a driver (one), but after trying to use it said that no new devices could be found.
So now I'm re downloading windows image from here http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/ and I'm going to burn it on USB (same as first one - it is more or less brand new) and see what will happen. I'll post results here 🙂
