I have a HP A6 Vision that is showing the following error on startup HP Bios application selected is corrupt or missing. Install Bios application error (501)

If you press enter to continue the laptop boots ok but after a few minutes the screen corrupts then shutsdown.

Any help with fixing this would be gratefully appreciated.

I grasp that when you try to boot your notebook you are receiving this error " HP Bios application selected is corrupt or missing. Install Bios application error (501)"

Here is a link to Recovering the BIOS to assist you.

If you get a bios message after restoring it you will need you exact model to locate the correct  drivers page.

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number

Hi, tried above bios restore, scren stays black , with caps lock led flashing, mouse pad lit.

my mistake the laptop is a Pavilion dv7 .

Detected on your site as a DV7-6c20US

Model No. A7753EA#BU

I spent a little time on it the other day and it crashes at random points, so the BSOD Stop error are not always the same.

I have listed some of them if that is of any use to you.

This has just come back form PC-world as fixed, but they are refusing to take it back and do the job properly, saying it was fixed when it left the store. but when it got home same problem.

All they seem to have done is put a fresh windows 7 install on it, but in doing so the have wiped the HP restore Partition.

I read on one of the help groups this could be a contributing fact to the 501 error, is this correct ?

thanks for your hep so far.

Hi Michellec123,

Thank you for your reply, I regret that you are still having an issue.

Would you try this.

Go into the Bios and turn off HP quick look as this has worked for someone else.

Please let me know the outcome.
