Hi, I recently got a Google HP Chromebook 14 for Christmas last year, and shortly after turning it on and setting it up, the fans started blowing very loudly and constantly.  I'm not sure what's causing it, but sometimes when it is on my lap, it will just stop, and other times, it will just keep blowing.  The air is not hot, but I want to know if there is something wrong with it and if I should send it back to get it fixed.  Thanks for the help.

Hi beachblondie, welcome to the HP Forums. If, after following these troubleshooting documents, the fan performance doesn't improve, then perhaps it would be a good idea to contact support to verify there are no hardware issues.

beachblondie,

February 2014 I bought a HP chromebook 14 (q000ed) to replace my Samsung series 5 chromebook

i never had any problems especcialy regarding fan noise.

Now my gf found it very convenient to take the CB to school

so i decided to get an other used Chrombook 14(q012ed, same hw but other colour)

from a student who could not work with ChromeOS because it was bound to software only available on windows,

so he used it for maybe two weeks

this CB was from December 2013.

when i got home i booted it up and then i heard the load annoying fan noise

then i started my own CB which makes an inaudible noise

so i send it to HP to replace the Fan

now i got it back and it still makes the noise a somewhat annoying humming noise

so i opened them both up and saw that there are two different Fans installed

the silent one is a FOXCONN NFB70A05H

which i can't find anywhere online

the annoying one installed in my second CB is a KPT43Y01TP203A1D334

i hope you can get your chromebook fixed within your warranty period

with this additional information

With kind regards,

Patjuh0
