I have a HP dv5-1104tu model laptop that doesn't start-up. Last time i hibernate that & now i my unable to start it. When i press power button it light up for a sencond or two and than goes off again. I try to fix it byself using pressing the power button for 10-30 second after removing power cord & battery. I still facing the same problem. Please suggested me the solution ASAP.
Thanking you!!

When you have the battery removed and the power adpater connected is the power led a solid color or blinking.
With the battery and power adapter connected and the power button pressed can you hear the fan come on for a moment while the led comes on and goes back out?
Does the possibility exist that you can test the power adapter on another notebook or use another compatible power eith yours to try a startup?
Have you performed all of the troubleshooting steps that are on this web HP document?
If you have a magnet available try moving it around the edge of the upper lid and lower case while pressing the power button to see if activating the reed switch will enable your notebook to start.
Best regards,
erico

Testing the switch which detects lid closed is pretty much the end of the line of troubleshooting.
I suggest asking around to see if you can find a magnet to use.

I Use another adapter & try to ON my laptop but it didn't work. I try the same 4-5 time & unplugged the charger & try to start my machine after 10-15 mins. O...O YES!!!! My machine start & working fine.
I suppose that use of different adapter workes.
Thank you guys. Thanks a lot.

Hey 1423,
I'm sorry you're running into this startup issue. How often do you shut down your computer? It isn't good for it to be in hibernation for prolonged periods of time. It can start to take a toll on the hardware if that is common practice.

I used to do the same very frequently as i'm not aware of it's disadvantage & i'll take care of that in future. But now i am facing start-up problem. What i have to do now? Please suggest me that. Is my laptop has any kind of hardware faliure ?
Thanks!

Is it still doing the same thing you mentioned above? Powering on for a second and then shutting off? No blinking lights or hard drive/fan spinning after that 1 second of power?
If so, the most likely possibility is a faulty AC Adapter or a fault in the power circuitry between the power jack and the motherboard.
You mentioned trying another AC Adapter and then you said that it worked after a few tries. Was it the original or the second adapter that worked?
Does it power on if you wiggle/move the cord at all? Is the plug fit snugly or loosely in the power jack?
