With the laptop on its back the plastic post located at the top left that the screw attaches to has been destroyed by tension from the display hinge located next to it. The screw fell out when I opened the laptop. There are many postings on this forum as well as on the internet discussing this issue which HP should be aware of. There is now a gap between the base enclosure and the top enclosure due to the tension from the display hinge. The sound quality has greatly deteriorated due to the loose enclosure. I removed the base enclosure to check the problem. There were a bunch of shards of black plastic from the post and a small piece of metal that the screw attached to that I removed.
The computer is out of warranty so I can't get warranty service from HP. I would like to obtain a replacement part so that I can repair the computer. I am experienced at working on computers. All of the interior parts will have to be removed in order to replace the top enclosure which the damaged plastic post is part of.
I would like to know how I can obtain the part.

Here's the Service Manual:
See p. 21 and the following part on p. 25:
HP Part No. for example, for the base enclosure is 720534-00
HP still has it in stock. You can use the search feature at the HP Store site to look for any of the parts you need, as listed in the Manual. Post back if you need any more help.
