Wise choice to return your HP 360 Envy that is non-functioning out of the box back to the store. The fix that is working for my HP Envy 360 is that Geek Squad at Best Buy wiped my computer and installed a version of Windows 10 that had no HP manufacture bloatware and conflicting sound drivers. The constant war between two different manufacture installed sound drivers was maxing out the system resources and freezing the whole computer, rendering it completely unusable.
I should have returned it to Best Buy within the return period. Unfortunately, I have battled with this HP Envy 360 for a whole year.
Crossing my fingers that this fix works.

I had to have Geek Squad at Best Buy work on my HP Envy 360 at least 6 times.
Shortening a 1 year story, a couple of weeks ago Geek Squad wiped my computer clean and reinstalled a version of Windows 10 that doesn't have any of the HP bloatware. There are 2 different sound drivers that were constantly battling thus maxing out the system resources of the computer. This in turn froze up the computer so I could do NOTHING with the computer. I could not go online, watch any videos and had no sound when videos finally were able to load . It has been a nightmare. My computer even went back to the HP repair center. They said it was fixed but it was not.
I do not know why the people from HP who respond on these forums have no idea what to advise the large amount of people complaining about this issue. Do they even know the products they are putting out?
For anyone who is within their return period, take your HP Envy 360 back and exchange it for another brand. For those of you who are out of the return period, wipe the manufacture version of Windows off your Envy and install a plain version of Windows. Just disabling one of the sound drivers will probably not solve your issue.

I've had my Envy x360 Convertible for less than a week. I love the machine, until it goes to sleep and I lose audio. Once I shutdown and perform a component test on the audio hardware everything is fine until the device goes to sleep again. I'm hoping by this point HP can provide me a solution to the problem.

I have the same problem - no sound, no driver despite repeated installations of the driver. I bought HP envy X360 computer in August and I have re-installed driver almost every day. I have also re-installed Windows 10, HP technician also downloaded driver through remote control. The problem persists I am fed up. I wish I had seen all this before buying computer for close to $800

Sondee,
Yep, there are so many of us going through the same thing with these defective HP ENVY 360s.
Here is what has been working for 3 WHOLE weeks for me:
The factory installed version of Windows 10 with all of the HP bloatware and conflicting sound drivers has been wiped off my computer. A plain version of Windows 10 (no HP stuff) has been installed on my laptop. The two different sound drivers on the HP factory installed version of Windows 10 are no longer on my computer so they are not in conflict freezing up my computer. The two sound drivers that are fighting are Bang and Olufsen and Conexant. If your laptop is like mine, as long as both of those are on your laptop, it is not going to work...at all.
No videos, no sound, no internet, just a frozen $1,000 paperweight that makes you want to sue the pants off HP and cry out of sheer frustration.
My suggestion is do a wipe and when the restore of Windows 10 is done, install plain Windows 10. I had all of the diagnostic work done by Geek Squad at Best Buy. They are the ones who figured out what the problem was. I even sent this laptop back to HP under factory warranty and in spite of all of the different threads on this same subject, HP was unable to fix the issue. They replaced a defective battery and fan. (I found out after I got the laptop back from HP that they also had a ton of laptop batteries that were defective. )

SarfarazHabib:
Geek Squad can be contacted. According to their website their tech support for up to 3 devices is $199 a year or $9.99 a month with a $99.99 set up fee. You can find them online by going to Bestbuy.com
The Geek Squad at Best Buy in East Sparks, Nevada is the one who diagnosed the problem with my laptop, wiped my computer and reinstalled a special, plain version of windows. I do not know if all Geek Squad units in other parts of the U.S. are familiar with what is causing this issue with these particular HP laptops.
The sound drivers are the problem. They are maxing out the resources to 100%.
When I called the HP Call Center for help (I believe they are in India), they had no clue what was going on with my computer even after conducting a Remote Session and doing some sort of BIOS update. The HP factory had no idea what to do so they replaced a battery (which was probably defective because there is a big recall on their notebook batteries) and replaced the fan. When I got my laptop back it still didn't work.
Disabling or reinstalling sound drivers doesn't seem to work according to many responses I have seen by users in this Forum. I do not know if HP will wipe your laptop clean and reinstall a plain version of Windows 10. It is HP's manufactuere's version with all of their exta crap and sound drivers that is causing the problem. Not sure if Microsoft is able to help get you a different version of Windows 10 without all of the HP bloatware.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
