Hi All
Could really do with some help on this. We are gonig to be using the HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station with our laptops.
The issue I am finding at present is that you have to authorise for use on each laptop. This requires Admin Rights, something that we are no going to give our End Users.
According to the manual located at: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05141189, on page 5, "Note: You must be logged on as an administrator on the computer connected to the dock.
To enable a non-administrator user to select OK, enter the non-administrator registry key. Contact your HP Technical Consultant for this key."
Does anybody have any idea what the key is?
Kind Regards

Hi,
You also have the option of going into the BIOS and changing the permissions for the Thunderbolt security Level.
Press F10 when you see the HP logo on power on to gain access to the BIOS.
>Go to the Advanced tab>Port Options>Thunderbolt security Level> PCIe and DisplayPort - No Security
By setting it to No Security the OS will not prompt for the user to accept a Thunderbolt connection and should detect the dock automatically.
Please keep in mind and educate your users that Thunderbolt technology does not support hot docking to help alleviate your work load. 🙂
Regards,
Francisco

You do not want to follow this person's post. Haha HP Employee......
Anyways, the best way to disable this is not by disabling the security of the device......
First, before installing the Thunderbolt Utility, you should make the following registry change:
{HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ThunderboltService\TbtServiceSettings}
"ApprovalLevel"=dword:00000001
This registry change needs to be done prior to installing the Utility.
Then install the Thunderbolt 3 Utiltiy and it shouldn't prompt for admin now.
