HP Elitebook 2350p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

see if you can work this out. HP Elitebook 2350p, can load and run XP (32 or 64) and its fine, but try to install Win 7 (32 or 64) and it hangs after the reboot, logs give no clue, same with any flavour of linux including Lubuntu which runs on anything.
The XP run absolutely perfectly, it was running Win 7 then a failed update (Well thats what the logs said) caused a myriad of problems. So tried to reload, failed, then Linux failed. But XP works. So..... (Sits back smuggly and waits...)

Is your notebook running stock condition or have you upgraded any hardware ex-RAM,HDD etc. If its running stock then OS tested for this product are Microsoft Windows XP & Windows Vista.

Any newer OS requiers upgraded and advanced hardware for smooth running. Hope i am able to answer your query please do share current specs and any upgrades done.:smileyhappy:

Just a ram upgrade, but it ran Win 7 and before that Linux Mint 17 with no problem, it was only after a failed Win 7 update that I have had this problem.

1.Plug the AC Adapter into the computer if it is not already connected.

2.Turn off the computer and wait 5 seconds.

3.Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup menu.

4.Use the Right Arrow or Left Arrow keys to navigate through the menu selection to find the Primary Hard Drive Self Test option.

5.Depending on your BIOS, this may be found below Diagnostics or Tools.Select Primary Hard Drive Self Test, and then press the Enter key to start the test.

Please share result of the test,

also confirm if you are facing issue during/after installation of OS, have you checked with different media Thumb drive/CD.

I have done all that, everything is fine, I am not a novice.I build computers for a living, just never seen this problem before.

I can load XP (32 or 64) from disc or usb drive, it works fine. If I try to load Win 7 from any media it goes through normally until it reboots, then it hangs a t the pulsing Win symbol. I have tried with Linux and the same result, just hangs.

I have tried every combination of bios setting, changed RAM, HD everything I can think of, it must be something on the motherboard. I do not have a spare one of those.

This is more an exercise in futility lol.
