Hello,

i did buy a new HP Elitebook 2740p.

I do have problem with the touch display.
The touch system is not working,

I've tried everything possible.

It did install the drivers, i did update the firmware 2 times.

And jet it does say, there is no finger touch.

The Pen does work.

What can i do?

I have also downloaded the latest Wacom driver for Tablet PCs.
Nothing did change.

HP Elitebook 2740p

Windows 7

Pressing the touch screen does not do anything

Pressing the touch screen in Windows or the TouchSmart software does not do anything. The mouse pointer does not move or objects are not highlighted.

Perform each of the following steps until the mouse pointer moves to a point that is touched on the Windows desktop:

  1. Clean the screen.

With the computer off, spray glass cleaner onto a soft, damp cloth and gently wipe the screen to remove dirt and smudges. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the screen. Give special attention to the upper left and right inside edges of the screen. Turn the computer on when finished.

Press the screen to see if it responds. If not, continue.

  1. Turn off the computer from the Start menu, and unplug the power cord.
  2. With the power cord unplugged, press the power button on the computer case and wait 5 seconds.
  3. Plug in the power cord, and press the power button to turn on the computer.

Press the screen to see if it responds. If not, continue.

  1. Make sure that the touch options are enabled as follows:
    1. Click Start  , and then Control Panel .
    2. Click Hardware and Sound .
    3. Scroll down and click Pen and Touch .
  1. From the Touch tab, make sure Use your finger as an input device is selected.

  1. Click OK .

Press the screen to see if it responds. If not, continue.

  1. If the touch screen still does not work, use Restoring Windows to a Previous Point (Windows 7) to restore the system to a time when it was working. If the touch screen never worked, skip this step.

Press the screen to see if it responds. If not, continue.

  1. If the touch screen still does not work, use Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows7) to restore the system to its original system configuration.

Press the screen to see if it responds. If not, continue.

  1. Use Testing for Hardware Problems Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools (Windows 7) .
  2. If the touch screen still does not work, the computer should be serviced.

If you suspect that touch functionality is not working correctly, go to the Windows desktop and press the wallpaper background. If the mouse pointer moves directly under the tip of your finger, touch functionality is working correctly. If the mouse pointer moves more than 1.3 centimeters (.5 inch) away from the tip of your finger, you should clean and calibrate the screen. To do so, with the computer off, spray glass cleaner onto a soft, damp cloth and gently wipe the screen to remove dirt and smudges. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the screen and give special attention to the upper left and right corners of the screen. To calibrate the screen, see Calibrating the Screen (Windows 7) (in English).

Hope this helps

Hey,

thanks for the quick reply.

The touch system did never work.

First where was the automatic installation of W7 32 bit.

it did not work.

Then i did install w7 Pro 64bit, and it did still not work.

As you can see on the no panel.png.

i dont have the option.

the second picture  2.png.

Shows that i did install the newest wacom driver.

But if i try to use it, it says:

"Ein unterstützter Berürhungsempfindlicher bildschirm wurde auf diesem system nicht gefunden."

Meaning: "a supported touchable display was not found on this system"

Something is woring.

I did try older wacom drivers and i did not work.

M

Step 1

Im sure you've done it right, but double check if you have the right driver (disable your Antivirus program when installing the driver).

Go here and download the registry patch

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/43561-touch-screen-enable-disable-touch-finger.html

Download the To Enable Touch by Finger on Touch Screen

After merging the patch into the registry, restart the computer and see if that worked.

Step 2

Next, shut down the computer, disconnect  all computer peripherals  (Mouse, cordless keyboard, tablet and etc,  thats using a USB port. Start up the computer and have it sit for just a few  minutes (without the peripherals ) and then shut down the computer again. Now plug-in the peripherals  and start up the computer, see if it works.

Step 3

Right click my computer then hit properties and make sure you have "Pen and Touch Input Available as shown in picture Touch1. Next, Check to make sure the HID (Human Interface Devices) devices (do not close the properties display)
and click on device manager and expand the HID devices
and see if anything like USB touch input or ELO tek or something similar like in picture Touch2. If so, you have something to work with.

I think it just broken or there is no touch display, i did try every possible driver.

I did try the driver given by HP and the new driver given by wacom.

and thanks to you again, that you want to help me.

A friend did say i should try to reset my bios, maybe this will help.
