Elitebook 8440p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm trying to reset my Elitebook 8440p to factory settings.  On startup I'm pressing F10, then going to File -> Reset to default.  It asks me "Yes" or "No" I click "Yes" and nothing happens, it just takes me back to the file menu.  I click exit and save and it starts up like normal without a reset option appearing or anything.  Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hi:

If the notebook has a working recovery partition, you need to tap the F11 key to perform a factory reset.

If that fails to work then you will need to order a set of recovery disks from HP.

In the USA/Canada call the business PC support # at 1-800-334-5144.

Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer services rep.

A set of recovery disks should cost around $10 delivered via first class mail.

Thank you for the reply Paul!  I'll call HP soon and try to get that disk.  I'll message this thread again when it comes in and if it works!

You're very welcome.
