Please help!
I have just purchased an HP Envy 17 3270NR. I chose it over less expensive models (I usually buy the Pavailion) because of the fact that it can support 3 external monitors which I need for work. I have been trying to get the external monitors to work but have not been successful.
I have one hdmi monitor and two monitors with active display port to vga dongles as required on http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx.
It is not working I can only show one external monitor at a time. The Envy shows each monitor is available and I can choose which one to show but only one at a time. I need to be able to show all monitors or I need to go ahead return my Envy.

Please help!!
I too am having the same issue. I just yesterday purchased the HP EnVY 17 3270NR due to its ability to connect multiple monitors. I am having the same issue as previous message. When I connect my two monitors, only one is on while the other is off. Both monitors are connected to the displayports and only one is recognized. When I go into control panel to extend onto both monitors it recognizes both and both monitors turn on, but my main LAPTOP screen becomes disable. Its like the computer will not allow me to have multiple monitors and only allowing me to have one montior at a time.

There are several people having this issue and they are calling tech support. I would suggest you 2 both call in too.
In order to run all three they have to be recognized under the Catalyst Control Center......however our version has no option to manage the Desktops or Monitors like it is suppose to. I was not only on the phone with HP Tech but also AMD ATI tech. They were all scratching their head that the CCC did not have that option.
So there is something very wrong with either the BIOS or the Drivers and probably both. We can only hope that HP addresses this problem soon. I like you spent the extra money for these line of Notebook due to that feature.
So really the only choice is to either return the notebooks or hang on and hope they come up with a fix.

Congrats, I too did the same thing today and returned My Envy today as well. I could not stand how a company can false advertise a product and the product does not come close to its specs. So, I returned my Envy and bought the new Samsung chronos Series 7 17 inch laptop, got a deal on it and boy I tell ya this laptop is wayyyyy better. Good luck to all those who purchased the HP Envy non 3D version.

I was having the same issue, after doing some digging, I found my issue was that I was trying to connect the second external display with a normal, PASSIVE displayport to dvi adapter, when it needs an ACTIVE adapter when connecting more than one display (as AMD coins "eyefinity")
AMD states it on their website for the 7800m series:
http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/graphics/7000m/7800m/Pages/radeon-7800m-series.aspx#3 (footnote tab #5)
Looking on Amazon, there are some with an "AMD eyefinity" stamp/sticker next to them. I've ordered one, but it'll be a while before I can test it out. Anyone tried that? should work with 2 displayport connections, but I only have one monitor with a displayport connection. No idea where that leaves HDMI...

Are you still having this issue or is anyone else?
I had mine working after tons of Tech support and different adapters sent to me. You need to got to StarTech.com and get part# MDP2DVID or 3rd party of course. It is expensive$$$ The non powered ones do not work. It does not have the power to display 3 without it. I needed so much support that HP sent it to me for free to stop calling. They sent me the non powered first which, obviously didnt work.
It needs to be a powered adapter which as you probably know: Y chord - USB is the power and Minidisplay goes to the adapter. This is a DVI to DVI.
When you get it working it is awesome. I have 3, 27" monitors. I recall Tech support saying you had to turn down the resolution on one of the monitors. it is fussy though, when you restart the computer it loses the screens and you have to constantly open the laptop, then close it. Also, your computer lid cannot be open, it will not display 4 monitors.
Lastly, I also had a bad DVI to DVI cable which sounds funny, grab a new chord to see if that works too. As a matter of fact I might have had 2 of them bad. Just make sure to isolate the ones your tried if they are all the same.
After I deployed my HD went so I installed a SSD and a fresh W7. I can no longer get the 3 monitor set up. It seems the correct drivers wont install for my Video even though everything else works as advertised. I am still not sure and my warranty is over. Back and forth with AMD and the support is worthless and slow.
So, what I am getting at is, if you messed around with all of that you might run into problems as well.
You may have all seen this as well?

I have the Envy 17 A6U49AV, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Service Pack 1, Graphics 1: Intel HD Graphics 4000; Graphics 2: Radeon HD 7850M. Trying to extend the desktop across three ASUS VS228H displays.
Have plugged in three monitors, with notebook lid closed. Display 1: HDMI port, Display 2: Passive DisplayPort dongle to HDMI, and Display 3: Active DisplayPort to DVI. Only getting two monitors working at once - can get any two working but not three. Or, one monitor with the notebook display. Bios and Radeon drivers are up to date. The video that seems to explain all this at http://support.amd.com/en-us/search/faq/154 seems to indicate the powered adaptor is only needed for the third monitor.
