Hello people!
I've just purchased my new HP Envy 17 J006ED laptop.
I'm going to set up a fresh installation of Windows 7 on a new SSD.
I would like to ask where can I find the appropriate drivers for my model and have them in place beforehand in order not to face any unwanted issues?
Has anybody performed the above downgrade to guide me?
Any help will be much appreciated!
Regards,
Zak

Hi, Zak:
There is a certain process you will need to do in order to get the graphics to work correctly.
First of all, make your set of W8 recovery media even if you are keeping W8 on your current HDD.
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03481733
Then you will need to change a BIOS setting in order to install and run W7 on your notebook.
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736054
Drivers:
Use all of the drivers listed under the chipset section, audio driver, applicable network drivers and card reader driver from this model:
Now for the graphics...
First you need to install the Intel graphics driver from this link (or you can try the Intel graphics driver from the above model).
Then you install the nvidia graphics driver.
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/70187/en-us
For any other driver you need, you can probably get from the above HP business notebook but if you don't know what you are missing, click on the device needing drivers and post the hardware ID, so I can link you to the driver you need.
If you do not know where to find the hardware ID, please read the guide at the link below.

Dear Paul,
I would like to thank you for your instant answer and consideration.
My SSD will arrive later this week or in the beginng of next week.
Then I will follow the procedure and return with my "report" (and hopefully with no problems!lol!)
One more question: What about HP Software and Drivers, such as Beat Audio Settings, Fingerprint Sensor, HP Utility Center etc? I mean the whole HP Preinstalled Software.
Thank you once more,
Regards,
Zak

You're very welcome, Zak.
I believe the IDT audio driver you install should install the Beats Audio.
I'm pretty sure you would use the fingerprint sensor driver from that model I posted, and you can try this software to enroll your fingerprint.
The other stuff you may have to get from other consumer notebooks such as this one.

Here I am again!
My SSD just arrived and I'm now beginning the procedure.
The problem is that I cannot open the following link
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=5405417&spf_p...
with all the appropriate drivers!
The first time you posted it I opened that page.
But now I can't!
Is it my problem or sth else?
Can u please check it out?
Regards,
Zak

Hi, Zak:
Yes, as luck would have it, the HP business support site is down for maintenance and I forgot how long it will be OOC.
You'll just have to delay your project until they are done with the maintenance.
Check back there later or tomorrow.
Regards,
Paul

Additionally I didn't ask if I should give a try on these drivers
Maybe some of them (chipset etc) will be compatible with Windows 7?
