I have a similar issue... the mouse works fine in either port on the right side, however on the single left port, the red optical beam does light up underneath (it's getting power) but the cursor does not respond. is this a bus problem or is there something special about this port? usb flash drives work fine here, By the way, as do all functions of my iphone cable, etc. just this silly mouse will not respond other than powering the laser. not a huge deal until i need to hook up my external hard drive enclosure which requires both the dual right side ports for use (usb jacks are three inches apart on enclosure cable, hard to use ports on opposite sides... lol!)

incidentally, thus is all because my touchpad and its buttons need to be replaced.

@badjj,

I understand a USB mouse is not working in the USB 3.0 port.

What is the product number?

NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.

Generally speaking, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible but some devices don't quite work properly on a USB 3.0 port.  However, updating the chipset and USB controller driver may help in some scenarios.
